ESTIMATE

As a collision estimator you will likely be one of the first points of contact with a client when they come through the doors of your shop after an accident. Once a customer comes into the shop, it is up to you to determine which repairs they will need and estimate how much it’s going to cost. It’s important to keep in mind that this is a preliminary investigation. Oftentimes when the repairs are underway additional damage is discovered within the vehicle and the total cost of repairs will change.

DISSASSEMBLY & BLUE PRINTING OF VEHICLE

After you determine an estimate of the repairs and their costs, you will pass the vehicle off to other professionals with careers in the auto industry like auto technicians and mechanics. In this stage they will carefully disassemble the vehicle and remove its various parts. Vehicles that are more severely damaged may require more or all of the parts of the car to be removed.

#

#

REPAIR APPROVAL

Once the estimate is completed, the insurance company will review the estimate. There may be some negotiations required to repair the vehicle. The insurance company will determine if the vehicle is even repairable. Once this process is completed, the vehicle begins the actual repair process

RECEIVE PARTS

The repair process can only begin when the shop receives all the parts. At the parts order stage, the availability of parts is checked, and parts are ordered in a timely manner so repairs can begin on schedule.

STRUCTURAL REPAIR

During the collision repair process, an electronic measuring system analyzes the car to restore it according to the factory specifications. This is an important step as it ensures the car frame remains structurally sound. If needed, wheel alignment and other suspension repairs will be done. All mechanical repairs should be completed along with the structural repairs.

STRUCTURAL PARTS REPLACEMENT

The structural damage occurred during an accident must be repaired first. Our trained technicians will use a computer-based measurement system to analyze the frame of your vehicle allowing us to accurately return your vehicle to manufacturer requirements.

BODY REPAIR

In the body repair department, technicians replace the exterior panels and all metal finishing that is required. Sheet metal is installed and aligned before the vehicle goes to the paint preparations department.

PRIME AND PAINT PRE PARATION

Paint preparation is a crucial step in the refinishing process of all types of vehicles. The body shop will prepare all panels for painting before priming and sealing. This creates better adhesion when the top color and additional clear coating are applied to your car.

REFINISING

Our expert refinish technicians – with a little help from sophisticated, computer-driven technology – restore your vehicle’s components to their original, “unblemished” finish. With as little as a thimble-full or as much as a gallon of product, they can match any color. This whole process takes place using our high-tech Akzo-Nobel’s Autowave waterborne refinishing system. Our booths are designed to simultaneously create a safe environment for our technicians and increase overall efficiency thereby reducing emissions into our atmosphere. We repair your vehicle so it’s safe for your family–and we think that’s the same way we should treat our planet. When the refinishing work is done, your vehicle moves on to be reassembled.

REASSEMBLY

After the parts are painted and dried, the vehicle is put back together. Once the assembly is complete, a full inspection is conducted in order to make sure the car is safe and up to manufacturer standards. After the initial inspection, the car should also be inspected with the owner present. When the owner gives the green light, the keys are handed back and the repair process has officially been completed.

#

#

DETAILLING

The vehicle gets a wash and thorough interior cleaning once all parts have been reinstalled. Surfaces are cleaned and the body paint is polished. In addition to doing a physical inspection, the body shop personnel will also test drive your car. This is to make sure that there are no driving problems that may be related to the repaired part/s of the vehicle.

DELIVERY

This is the final step in the collision repair process. Once the client arrives at the shop to pick up their car, the final paperwork is released and the bill is explained. The customer then drives home in the car that has been returned to its pre-accident state.
